Carol Patricia (Cooke) Ayers passed away on January 3, 2026, after a long history of diabetes complications. She was born in Roseburg OR on January 29, 1959, to the late William H. and Frances Patricia (Mansfield) Cooke. Growing up she also lived in Lakewood NY, Fox Island WA, Adel GA and University Place (Tacoma) WA. She graduated from Curtis High School in 1977 in the top five of her class with honors and a scholarship. Carol received a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences from the University of Washington in 1981 and soon after a BA in Design from Cornish College of Arts. She worked for several retail stores in Lakewood and Seattle WA and at a gas station on weekends before becoming a Records Information Technician for Community Psychiatric Clinic in Seattle. She married Stephen Lee Ayers on May 18, 1991, until his death on March 6, 2010. She married Bruce Kenneth Ayers on 9/18/16 until his death on August 25, 2023. She moved from Seattle to Lynnwood WA for a few years before retiring. She and Bruce moved to Yuma AZ in 2021 and after Bruce passed away she moved to Boyd, TX in June 2025 to be near family. Seven months later after two heart attacks she passed to be with her Lord and Savior.
Growing up Carol was an avid Barbie fan. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 11 when getting a physical for camp. She was popular with many friends in Georgia and Washington. She was a member of Phi Mu Sorority at the University of Washington. She enjoyed her travels to Europe, Canada and Hawaii. Carol had the biggest heart you would ever see. Even though she couldn’t afford it she would give gifts to strangers in need and shelter in her home to friends without a place to lay their heads. She was especially attached to her pet cats – particularly Mimi. She was a stepmom to Stephen’s daughter Cindy and son Daniel.
Carol is survived by her sister Mary (Corey) Millard, brothers Bill (Lisa) Cooke and Bob (Nancy) Cooke, her stepchildren Cindy and Daniel Ayers, her nieces Valerie Millard, Vienna (Cooke) Thomas (Dave), Lacey (Cooke) Agles (Brandon) and Hannah (Cooke) Newsom (Michael), her nephews Christopher and David Millard (Danniele) and numerous great nieces and nephews.
