The Genealogy Gems Website is Getting a Makeover

Good News! The Genealogy Gems website is getting a makeover!

The site reached its 5th birthday in February and was starting to show it’s age.  We’ve poured a lot of thought into how to make it fresh, full of gems, easier to use and as compatible as possible with all the new versions of web browsers out today.  It’s been a big job, but I’m really happy with the results and hope you will be too.

For your sneak peek go to

PLEASE NOTE: Premium Members have not been moved to the new site yet. That will happen with the official launch by the end of this month.

I hope you will cheer us on as we work around the clock to bring you a website you will enjoy returning to again and again.

Enjoy! Lisa

    Lisa,
Congratulations with the new website. I just got the sleek peak via the newsletter. It looks great. I’m looking forward to the premium part being up and running soon, being a premium member called coffeegirl.

Thanks for being such an inspiration. I have started a blog http://www.travelgenee.com where I hope to share my travels, family history and genealogy research. I just need to spend more time on it however there is not much left between work, travells and following your great genealogy gems.

    Best wishes, Fran

    Lisa,
I love the new website! It is easy to find what you want and is pleasing to look at. Great job!

    Hi Lisa..

Looking forward to using the new website – just an FYI that it seems to have broken the podcast for those of us (me at least :) who use the rss feed to subscribe rather than iTunes. With the old url pointing here, the podcast rss feed now returns your blog posts (i.e. those at lisalouisecooke.com) instead of the podcasts. Similarly, I’m not able to access the podcasts directly from the site as the links point to genealogygemspodcast.com, which redirect here..

I figure that it might just be a result of the changeover, but just want to let you know in case it’s something unexpected.

    Cheers!
    Kai

    Hi Kai,

You’re absolutely right. Between now and Friday we are updating the rss feeds for the free and premium podcast episodes. Bear with us and things should be up and running very soon!

Thanks for your patience and for subscribing to the podcast!
    Lisa

Great job! Is the use of WordPress new? I don’t recall if you were using before. I don’t think so right?

  6. Lisa says:

Thanks Taneya. And yes, this is my first time using WordPress. I was hesitant but I love it now.

  7. taneya says:

Excellent! I’m sure you’ll love it! Did you see that I’m doing a webinar series on WordPress w/ DearMyrtle? http://blog.dearmyrtle.com/2012/05/webinars-wordpress-for-genealogists.html. The ones we’ve done already will be freely archived soon and the last two are July 9 & 18th.

Hmmm. That logo in the top right corner looks just like the microphone on the LegacyFamilyTree Webinars page: http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/webinars.asp

  9. Lisa says:

Could be, it’s available for purchase on a graphic website. I’ve been using it for the last 5 years I’ve been podcasting.
